VOLUNTEERING

This Category gets a person ready to do volunteer work.  An Individual could also use the Job Preparation Category if the prompts are more appropriate for a certain type of volunteer work.

Choose one or more of the following:

___Did you call to make sure that you are going to volunteer today?

___Have you called for transportation?

___Do you need to call someone to let them know that you are going?

___Would you like to take some food to share? If so, choose what you want to take.

___Would you like to take something to read to people? If so, choose something to take.

Choose one or more:

___Before you get ready, do you want to take a shower?

___Before you get ready, do you want to take a bath?

___What do you need to do to get ready?

___Do you need to change your clothes or are you looking okay?

If needed for transportation, choose one or more:

___Do you have your bus pass?

___Do you have the money you need for your transportation?

___Get what you need for your transportation. (custom picture)

Choose one or more:

___Do you have your keys?

___Remember your wallet.

___Remember your purse.

___Be sure that you have your ID card.

___Is your ID card in your wallet?

Choose one, if needed:

___Are your wallet & keys in your fanny pack

___Are your wallet & keys in your purse?

___Are your wallet & keys in your pocket?

If Bus # Card is used, choose one or more:

___Get your Green Community Book and your Black Communication Book.

___Find this picture in your Green Book.

___Take your bus # card out of your Green Book and put it in your Black Book.

If Black Book is used, choose one, if needed:

___Put your Black Book in your pocket.

___Put your Black Book in your purse.

___Put your Black Book in your fanny pack.

Choose if Leave-A-Note pictures will be used:

___Put your Leave-A-Note picture on the table.

Before leaving, choose one or more:

___Do you need a coat or a jacket?

___Don’t forget to shake hands and say Hi.

___Remember to be as helpful as you can.

___If you are going to walk, be sure to watch for cars.

___Watch the clock to see when you have to leave.

___When you leave, be sure that your door is locked.


VOLUNTEERING – RETURN   (Optional; should be used  if needed for re-organization and/or if books are used.)

Choose one or more, if needed:

___Welcome back. You can put your Leave-A-Note picture away.

___Is your bus pass in the right place?

___Did you put your keys away?

___Put your wallet where it belongs.

___Put your fanny pack where it belongs.

___Put your purse where it belongs.

If Bus # Card is used, choose one or more:

___Make sure your Green Community Book is open to the picture of where you were.

___Take your bus # card out of your Black Book and put it back in your Green Book.

___And finally, put your books back where they belong.
